KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Gorkhas dominated the Bagmati Derby in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Friday, defeating Chitwan Rhinos by 53 runs at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.
Chasing a target of 143, Chitwan were bowled out for 89 in 17.2 overs.
Rashid Khan starred with the ball, taking 3 wickets for just 3 runs in 1.2 overs, claiming three of the last four Rhinos wickets.
Captain Karan KC, Milind Kumar, and Shahab Alam shared 2 wickets each, while Santosh Yadav picked up 1.
Chitwan struggled with the bat, with Dev Khanal and Ravi Bopara top-scoring with 21 runs each.
Opener David Malan managed only 7, and captain Kushal Malla scored 6. This marked Chitwan’s second defeat in four matches.
Earlier, despite a half-century from Johan Simpson, Kathmandu’s middle order collapsed, finishing at 142 all out in 19.4 overs.
Simpson scored 60 off 29 balls with three fours and a six, while Milind added 38 runs off 43 balls.
The last seven wickets fell for just 20 runs. Sohel Tanbir took 4 wickets, Ranjit Kumar 2, and Kamal Singh Airi 2.
With this win, Kathmandu notched their third victory in five matches, strengthening their chances of reaching the playoffs.
