KATHMANDU: In a significant boost to Nepal’s tourism and hospitality industry, CG Hospitality—part of the country’s leading business conglomerate, Chaudhary Group—has laid the foundation stone for bringing the renowned luxury heritage brand “Summit Hotel” to Gorkha.

The initiative aims to position the region as an international luxury tourism destination while promoting high-end travel experiences.

Inspired by Kathmandu’s iconic Summit Hotel, established in 1978, the upcoming project will be developed as a luxury heritage resort that blends modern facilities with authentic Nepali character and cultural essence, according to CG Hospitality.

Spread over approximately 30 ropanis of land, the project is expected to be completed and operational within 24 months.

The hotel will comprise around 30 rooms, with room rates projected at approximately USD 500 per night.

The Summit Hotel in Gorkha will provide premium services targeting both domestic and international visitors.

CG Hospitality stated that the main objective of the project is to integrate Gorkha into Nepal’s luxury tourism circuit.

Situated near the historically and culturally significant Gorkha Durbar, the project is expected to highlight Nepal’s rich history, heritage, and culture on the global stage.

Gorkha holds deep historical importance as the place from where King Prithvi Narayan Shah initiated the unification of Nepal, laying the foundation of modern Nepal.

According to Rahul Chaudhary, Managing Director and CEO of CG Hospitality Global, the project marks another important milestone that reflects Chaudhary Group’s continued confidence and commitment toward Nepal’s tourism sector.

He stated, “Gorkha is a highly significant region deeply connected to Nepal’s history. Through this project, we aim to showcase Nepal’s history, culture, and authenticity from Gorkha, combined with the legacy of Summit Hotel, to audiences both within the country and internationally. Chaudhary Group will always support the government’s vision of strengthening the national economy through tourism.”

The “Summit Revisited” hotel project is expected to create employment opportunities in the Gorkha region, strengthen the local economy, and attract further investment. It is also anticipated to accelerate regional development through tourism growth.

Just a few days earlier, Chaudhary Group had also laid the foundation stone for another prestigious luxury property, “The Ritz-Carlton” in Thamel, Kathmandu, in collaboration with the globally renowned Marriott International.

CG Hospitality Global is steadily expanding its international presence through partnerships with leading global hotel brands.

Its portfolio now includes over 230 hotels and resorts across 130 destinations in 12 countries, with a total capacity exceeding 15,000 keys.

Chaudhary Group, Nepal’s largest business conglomerate, is also one of the country’s leading taxpayers and a major contributor to employment generation.

The group contributes approximately 2 percent of the government’s annual revenue.

In fiscal year 2081/82, Chaudhary Group contributed Rs 25.59 billion in government revenue, bringing its total contribution over the past five years to Rs 92.26 billion.
