Campaign launched to reinstate Hindu nation & monarchy in Nepal
According to the organizers, formal memorandums have been submitted to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
KATHMANDU: A campaign to restore Nepal as a Hindu nation and reinstate the monarchy has gained momentum both within Nepal and internationally, with efforts now underway in India to garner diplomatic support.
While protests and demonstrations have been ongoing in Kathmandu for the past four days, parallel initiatives are being spearheaded in New Delhi by the Nepal Hindu Rashtra Punahsthapana Manch (Forum for the Restoration of Hindu Nation in Nepal).
On Sunday, the Forum held a press conference at the Press Club of India in New Delhi, appealing to the Indian government for diplomatic, moral, and strategic support to help declare Nepal a Hindu nation once again and bring back the monarchy.
According to the organizers, formal memorandums have been submitted to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu.
The memorandums urge the Indian leadership to support Nepal’s efforts to reinstate its former national identity and traditional governance system.
Dr. Eng. Bishnu Prasad Baral, the Forum’s International Founding President, addressed the press, claiming that Nepal has failed to achieve political stability and prosperity in the 17 years since the establishment of the republic. “Monarchy and a Hindu nation are essential for Nepal’s development, stability, and national unity,” he said. “We are now initiating diplomatic pressure through the Indian government to push this agenda at the international level.”
The event was also attended by social activist and human rights advocate Bhopal Singh Chaudhary, as well as Forum members Yuvraj Baral and Parvati Bam.
The movement reflects growing frustration among certain groups in Nepal regarding the outcomes of the republican system and calls into question the direction of the country’s political trajectory.
