Cabinet appoints Bastola as Land Commission Chief, extends probe panel tenure
The meeting also decided to promote Armed Police Force (APF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Anjani Kumar Pokharel to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG).
KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Balbhadra Bastola as the Chairperson of the Land Problem Resolution Commission.
Announcing the decisions of the Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday at Singha Durbar, government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel, said Bastola has been appointed to lead the commission.
According to him, the Cabinet also appointed Amir Prasad Neupane, Padmini Sotung, and Dr. Rona Shrestha as members of the commission.
The meeting also decided to promote Armed Police Force (APF) Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Anjani Kumar Pokharel to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG).
Similarly, the Cabinet approved an agreement under the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) related to the implementation of the Montreal Protocol, aimed at managing and reducing substances that deplete the ozone layer.
The government also extended the tenure of a committee formed to study and make recommendations on security mechanisms mentioned in the report of a commission that investigated the incidents during the protests of Bhadra 23 and 24, 2082 BS.
The committee’s term has been extended by 45 days.
The Cabinet said the decision was taken to ensure continued policy implementation and administrative efficiency while advancing various governance processes.
