By-elections in Ilam-3 & Bajhang-1 on April 27

KATHMANDU: April 27 has been designated by the Election Commission (EC) for a crucial by-election in Illam and Bajhang, as announced following a meeting of office bearers held on Sunday.

The by-elections will take place in Illam Constituency 2 and Bajhang State Assembly Constituency 1 on the specified date, necessitated by the unfortunate passing of House of Representatives (HoR) member Subhash Nembang from Illam and State Assembly member Prithvi Bahadur Singh from Bajhang.

This announcement reflects the EC’s commitment to upholding the democratic process despite unexpected events.

Nembang died of a heart attack on Bhadra 26 (Sept 11), while Singh died in a road accident on Ashadh 25 (July 9).
