KATHMANDU: Biratnagar Kings pulled off a dramatic 3-wicket victory over Karnali Yaks in the second match of Friday’s Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2, thanks to a spectacular innings by Basir Ahmed that rescued his team from the brink of defeat.

Chasing 161 runs after losing the toss, Biratnagar Kings were struggling at 3 wickets down inside 5.4 overs when Basir walked to the crease.

He anchored the chase with a match-winning knock, remaining unbeaten on 62 runs off 43 balls, smashing 3 fours and 3 sixes.

With Biratnagar Kings needing 4 runs from the final two balls, Basir launched a six on the fifth ball of the final over to complete the comeback win.

Biratnagar Kings finished at 163/7 in 19.5 overs, securing the victory by 3 wickets.

The win helps Biratnagar Kings avoid back-to-back defeats after losing their previous match to Chitwan Rhinos.

Before that, they had earned wins against Janakpur Bolts, Kathmandu Gorkhas and Pokhara Avengers.

Karnali Yaks, meanwhile, now have two wins and four losses from their six matches.

They had earlier faced defeats to Sudurpaschim Royals and Chitwan Rhinos, while their only victory came against Lumbini Lions.
