KATHMANDU: A political controversy has intensified after allegations surfaced against Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Krishna Kumar Karki, who is accused of impregnating a Nigerian woman and later abandoning her.

The claims, which have circulated widely on social media through videos and shared “evidence” by the woman involved, have triggered public debate and growing calls for an official investigation. Within the party, fellow RSP lawmaker Ashika Tamang has urged a serious and impartial inquiry, saying the matter should be addressed beyond party lines and focused on truth and accountability.

In a Facebook post, Tamang highlighted the importance of women’s dignity and motherhood, stressing that allegations must be properly investigated regardless of nationality. “Whether a woman is native or foreign, she is the mother of this earth,” she wrote, adding that truth should be verified rather than ignored.

Responding to the controversy, she also emphasized that “the country is bigger than the party and the world is bigger than the country,” urging that wrongdoing must be called out even if it involves one’s own party members.
