KATHMANDU: Flight operations at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) were briefly affected on Thursday morning after the Nepal Army conducted a rehearsal in preparation for the upcoming Maha Shivaratri festival.

The Army carried out a parade drill inside the airport premises from 9:15 am to 10:15 am.

During this period, both domestic and international flight take-offs and landings were impacted, causing inconvenience to passengers.

According to Gyanendra Bhul, Information Officer at the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), several flight schedules were affected due to the rehearsal.

Maha Shivaratri falls on Feb 15 this year.

The Nepal Army has been conducting security and ceremonial rehearsals as part of preparations for the annual festival, which is observed with special events across the country.
