KATHMANDU: Traffic checks in the Kathmandu Valley have been intensified since the morning.

This action has been taken to control the use of vehicles under the influence of alcohol and drugs, which is common during the Holi festival.

The traffic police have started stringent checks at various locations across the valley today.

According to the traffic police, checks have been conducted at 176 places since this morning.

They are specifically monitoring the consumption of alcohol and drugs.

In the valley, there are 61 dedicated check points, 96 picket points, and 19 special Holi checks.

Under the special Holi security plan, a total of 1,707 security personnel, including those in uniform and plain clothes, have been deployed.

If anyone is found violating the rules or driving under the influence, their vehicles will be held throughout the day, and legal action will be taken.
