KATHMANDU: The Election Commission has made public a Civic Education Resource Book for Election Programs aimed at strengthening voter awareness and promoting free and fair elections.
Prepared under the slogan “Expansion of Election Education and Information: The Foundation of Free and Fair Elections,” the Election Education Resource Book for Social Studies Teachers, 2082 has been released through the Commission’s official website.
The resource material is organized into seven chapters covering a wide range of topics.
Chapter One focuses on democracy and the Constitution, while Chapter Two outlines provisions related to elections and political parties.
Chapter Three discusses the electoral system, elections at different levels, and inclusiveness. Chapter Four explains the election cycle, procedures, vote counting, and the NOTA (No Vote) option.
Similarly, Chapter Five covers election management bodies and relevant laws, Chapter Six addresses compliance with the election code of conduct, monitoring, and observation, and Chapter Seven highlights key election stakeholders, citizens’ rights and duties, the role of teachers in the electoral process, and visits to election education and information centers.
The Commission said the resource book is intended to enhance civic and electoral education, particularly among teachers, to help build an informed electorate and strengthen democratic practices.
