55 new basic hospitals to become operational soon
Minister Paudel said that plans are underway to bring other hospitals, which have been constructed and handed over to local levels across the country, into operation.
KATHMANDU: Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel has stated that the federal, provincial, and local governments are working together to make 55 newly constructed basic hospitals operational.
Responding to questions in the House of Representatives today, Minister Paudel said that plans are underway to bring other hospitals, which have been constructed and handed over to local levels across the country, into operation.
Preparations are ongoing to deploy medical staff and supply equipment to these hospitals.
He emphasized that the ministry has fulfilled its commitments in a procedural and timely manner. Some hospitals, however, remain non-operational due to pending procedural issues.
“We often see buildings standing completed, but many are either not handed over, unfinished, or tied up in legal issues,” Minister Paudel explained. “Because these procedural matters are unresolved, some basic hospitals have not yet been made operational.”
He provided the example of a hospital in Sonari, Narainapur-4, Raptisonari, Banke district, which has been fully constructed and is awaiting formal handover.
The hospital is expected to begin operations immediately after the transfer.
According to the minister, the operational guidelines for hospitals have already been drafted and approved.
