KATHMANDU: A total of 41 polling stations in Ramechhap district have been placed under the ‘highly sensitive’ category for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 (March 5), according to the District Administration Office.

Ramechhap, which comprises two municipalities and six rural municipalities, has 64 wards and a total of 96 polling stations.

Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa said that out of the 96 polling stations, 41 have been classified as highly sensitive, 35 as sensitive, and 20 as normal, with security arrangements to be managed accordingly.

To ensure peaceful and secure polling, 1,429 security personnel will be deployed across the district. The joint security mobilization will involve the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force (APF), and the Nepali Army.

“Of the total, 1,333 personnel will be from Nepal Police and 96 from the Armed Police Force,” CDO Thapa said.

He added that around 150 security personnel are currently lacking, and additional forces have been requested from neighboring districts, including Sindhuli.

According to District Election Officer Narayan Lamichhane, the district has a total of 187,952 registered voters for the upcoming election. This includes 96,892 male voters and 91,060 female voters.

With the increase in the number of voters, the Election Office has designated 96 polling stations and 228 polling centers across the district. Compared to the previous election, two additional polling centers have been added this time.
