First-ever NRNA cricket tournament set to held in Germany
Scheduled for May 30 and 31 (Saturday and Sunday), the tournament is expected to establish Darmstadt as a key hub for Nepali cricket in Europe.
KATHMANDU: Nepali cricket in Germany is set to achieve a historic milestone this May. The Nepali Cricket Club Darmstadt has officially announced that it will be hosting the first-ever Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) cricket tournament in the country.
The historic event has been officially announced by the Nepal Darmstadt Cricket Club, which will lead the organization of the tournament in collaboration with the Nepal Darmstadt Football Club, under the official support of LCC Hessen e.V.
Scheduled for May 30 and 31 (Saturday and Sunday), the tournament is expected to establish Darmstadt as a key hub for Nepali cricket in Europe.
A total of 10 teams from various German cities will take part in the competition.
Participating teams include representatives from Hamburg, Berlin, Göttingen, NRW, Munich, Nuremberg, Weingarten, Darmstadt, Mannheim, and Giessen.
The tournament will follow a group-stage format, with teams divided into two groups of five. The top performers from each group will advance to the knockout stage.
The champions will receive a cash prize of €2,200, while the runners-up will be awarded €1,100, according to the organizers.
In addition to team honors, individual excellence will also be recognized. Awards will be presented for Player of the Tournament, Best Batsman, Best Bowler, and Man of the Match for each game.
Organizers say the event reflects the growing strength, unity, and passion for cricket within the Nepali diaspora in Germany.
By bringing together teams from 10 cities onto a single platform, the tournament aims to strengthen community ties and further promote Nepali cricket on an international stage.
With final preparations now in full swing, all attention is turning toward Darmstadt. For the Nepali community, this is not just a cricket tournament but a celebration of identity, unity, and sporting pride.
