KATHMANDU: Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) issued a public appeal on Friday, urging citizens to remain calm and avoid panic buying of fuel.

The statement comes in response to widespread social media posts and videos showing long queues and heavy crowds at petrol pumps across the country.

Clarifying that there is no shortage of fuel, IOCL assured the public that fuel and LPG supplies remain uninterrupted and readily available at all its outlets nationwide.

In a post shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, Indian Oil stated, “IndianOil has sufficient fuel stocks across the country and our supply lines are functioning smoothly without any disruption. There is absolutely no need to panic.”

The company further appealed to the public, saying, “Please do not crowd fuel stations unnecessarily. LPG and fuel are easily available at all our outlets. Stay calm and cooperate.”

The clarification came after social media reports sparked concerns, leading many people to rush to fuel stations in anticipation of potential conflict.

According to news agency PTI, panic buying was observed in certain areas as fears of war triggered excessive fuel stockpiling by citizens.

Industry analysts have noted that such rumors can quickly escalate and put undue stress on supply chains. The timely appeal from the country’s largest fuel retailer is being seen as a proactive and responsible step to maintain public order and ensure fuel availability.

Indian Oil has also encouraged citizens to act with restraint and responsibility during this sensitive time.
