KATHMANDU: Chandra Bahadur Thapa Chhetri has been appointed as the new Chair of the Health Insurance Board.

The Minister for Health and Population, Pradeep Paudel, administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Chair at the Ministry today.

A resident of Pyuthan, Thapa had previously served as a board member for three years.

In his new role, Chair Thapa emphasized his plan to improve health insurance by reviewing and revising the health insurance policy to cover all citizens.

He committed to making the insurance claim payment process faster and more transparent, ensuring the transparent and effective management of the insurance fund, and advocating for the approval of a permanent organizational structure for the Health Insurance Board.

Thapa also expressed his intention to run a public awareness campaign on the importance of health insurance and collaborate with the government, private sector, and international organizations to make the insurance program more effective.
