Durga Prasai faces cyber bureau complaint

KATHMANDU: A complaint has been filed against engineer and medical professional Durga Prasai at the Cyber Bureau of the Nepal Police.
The complaint was lodged on Friday by Maya Ko Pahichan Nepal, an organization working for sexual and gender minorities.
Prasai, who is also a commander of the Royalist Movement, is accused of spreading false and hateful expressions targeting Nepal’s sexual and gender minority communities.
Sunilbabu Panta, the executive director of Maya Ko Pehichan Nepal, filed the complaint, stating that Prasai spread misleading information about same-sex marriage with alleged financial backing from USAID.
The complaint further claims that Prasai’s actions are entirely misleading and disrespect the legal recognition and historical decisions regarding Nepal’s minority communities.
Panta has called for an investigation into Prasai’s online expressions and activities, urging action in accordance with the Cybercrime Act.
