KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the need for collective efforts to ensure the success of the nationwide free HPV vaccination campaign against cervical cancer, which began today.

Inaugurating the campaign at Shivapuri Secondary School in Maharajgunj, organized by the Ministry of Health and Population on the occasion of World Cancer Day, PM Oli highlighted the importance of a disease-free Nepal.

He stressed that the government is committed to freeing citizens from illness and deprivation.

He reaffirmed the government’s dedication to providing accessible and quality healthcare, ensuring that no one is left untreated.

Urging people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, he advised consuming only clean and balanced food.

PM Oli also recalled how collective efforts helped overcome the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed confidence that cervical cancer can be eradicated through similar unity.

He hoped that no eligible girl would be deprived of the free HPV vaccine.

The nationwide campaign, running until Feb 18, aims to vaccinate around 1.7 million girls, including students from grades 6 to 10 and out-of-school girls aged 10 to 14 years.
