Police seize over 400 kilograms of illegal cannabis

KATHMANDU: In two separate operations, the police have confiscated a total of over 400 kilograms of illegal cannabis in the eastern region of Nepal.

Around 410 kilograms of cannabis were recovered by the police from a vehicle at Pannmara Jungle, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-6, on the night of Feb 3.

Authorities seized the drugs after searching a car with the registration number Ba 15 Cha 7633, which was stopped by local police from the Dharan Area Police Office.

In another operation, approximately 19 kilograms of cannabis were seized from a suitcase hidden at a location in Bansabari, Harinagar Rural Municipality-6, Sunsari, on the evening of Feb 3.

The narcotics were discovered by officers from the Ghuskihat Police Post during a routine search.

The Nepal Police Central Office has stated that investigations are underway in both cases.
