KATHMANDU: The debate on the remand of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has begun at the District Court of Kathmandu.

The hearing is taking place in the bench of Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari.

Lamichhane had appeared at the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday morning, and the remand hearing started the same day.

As the debate could not be completed, Lamichhane was kept in custody on Sunday and Monday.

The hearing was delayed on Tuesday due to the public holiday, and he was brought to court on Wednesday.

The remand hearing is expected to conclude today, and a decision will be made on whether Lamichhane will remain in custody or fight the case outside the jail.

Lamichhane has been named as a defendant in the investigation of the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative case in Kathmandu.

Previously, after 83 days of investigation and remand hearings in the Pokhara Surya Darshan Cooperative scam, the court had ordered his release on a bond of 6.5 million rupees.
