Six more bodies found in Lalitpur

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have confirmed the recovery of six additional bodies in Lalitpur following the recent flood disaster.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Narhari Adhikari from the District Police Office, a total of 40 bodies have been discovered so far, with 34 recovered by Monday and six more found this morning.

Of the recovered bodies, 17 have undergone post-mortem examinations and have been handed over to their families, as informed by Assistant Chief District Officer Kalpana Ghimire.

“Among the bodies that arrived at Patan Hospital, 17 have completed post-mortem and have been taken away by their relatives.

The remaining bodies are being transported to Patan for post-mortem with the assistance and coordination of the police,” she stated.

According to the updated statistics from Nepal Police this morning, the bodies found include 9-year-old Aayush Syangtan from Mahalaxmi Municipality Ward No. 2, and Rammaya Syangtan, aged 40, along with her three children: 14-year-old Ajay Syangtan, 11-year-old Subash Syangtan, and 9-year-old Salina Syangtan, all residing in the same household in Mahalaxmi-2.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Adhikari mentioned that there are still around 10 individuals missing due to the flood disaster.

As per the latest update, Ishwar Timalsina, his mother, and wife from Mahalaxmi-3 Gotikhel have been missing since Sept 28.

Additionally, Setu Sah, 5, from Rautahat residing in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-14 Nakhhipot Kantipur Colony, Devaraj Karki, 40, originally from Okhaldhunga but living in Lalitpur, and Bikau Sah, 32, from Rautahat Gaura Municipality Ward No. 6, are also reported missing.

Other missing persons include Vivek Singh, 30, working at Anandavan Hospital in Godawari Municipality-6, Keshav Neupane, 50, from Bagmati Rural Municipality-1 Ghusal, Sanchita Syangtan, 12, from Mahalaxmi Ward No. 2, and 35-year-old Chhabilal Syangtan along with his sister-in-law (name not disclosed).
