UML decides to deposit Rs 5 million in NDRF
Prime Minister and party Chair KP Sharma Oli called on everyone to unite for rescue and relief efforts in light of the serious natural disaster situation in the country.
KATHMANDU: The Secretariat meeting of the CPN (UML) has decided to deposit NPR 5 million into the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF).
This decision follows an initial resolution made by the Cabinet meeting on Monday to contribute Rs 1 billion to the fund. Immediately after the UML Secretariat meeting, a meeting of the UML parliamentary party commenced at Singha Durbar.
During this meeting, Prime Minister and party Chair KP Sharma Oli called on everyone to unite for rescue and relief efforts in light of the serious natural disaster situation in the country.
Prime Minister Oli proposed that party lawmakers contribute half of their 15-day salary to the relief fund, a proposal that was approved by the parliamentary party.
He mentioned that he would provide updates on the progress regarding floods, landslides, damage, and rescue operations during a press conference scheduled for later today.
Expressing grief over the suffering caused by floods and natural disasters, Prime Minister Oli paid tribute to those who have lost their lives in these calamities and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
He assured that the government would provide appropriate medical care for the injured.
“The government has initiated temporary road openings on blocked highways, alongside rescue and relief operations. Initially, there were complaints that the relief efforts were insufficient. We do not dispute any grievances. The suffering of the people is our suffering. We are servants of the people, and I urge everyone to engage in this service wholeheartedly,” Prime Minister Oli stated. “The funds collected in the relief fund will be utilized effectively.”
