KMC receives paproval to conduct liver transplants

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) located in Sinamangal has received a license to conduct liver transplant activities.

Previously, KMC was only authorized to perform kidney transplants, but it has now also been granted permission to carry out liver transplant procedures.

In a press release issued on Friday, the Department of Health Services announced that following a thorough review of the application submitted by KMC, a decision was made on 2081/5/07 to grant the institution permission to conduct liver transplant activities.

The approval has been given in accordance with Section 5(1) of the Human Organ Transplantation (Regulation and Prohibition) Act, 2055.

According to the department, this license will remain valid for two years.
