KATHMANDU: Biratnagar witnessed a grand celebration of World Cancer Day 2025, organized through a collaboration between Nobel Cancer Hospital and Leo District Council 325 C.

The event, observed globally on Feb 4, commenced early in the morning with a 5-kilometer mini-marathon from the hospital premises to Shahid Stadium and continued with various programs throughout the day.

The celebrations featured multiple activities, including a marathon race, cancer awareness rally, slow cycling, para-cycling competition, prize distribution, and a cultural concert.

Distinguished guests & dignitaries

The mini-marathon inauguration was graced by Koshi Province’s Minister of Social Development, Panchakarn Rai, as the chief guest.

Competitions & cultural performances

Winners of various competitions were honored during the evening cultural program. The mini-marathon saw international participation, with a Kenyan runner securing first place.

The event also featured a spectacular performance by the popular Biratnagar-based band, “The Subham & Smriti.”

The initiative played a crucial role in raising awareness about cancer through a blend of educational and competitive activities.
