KATHMANDU: On Sunday, four new ministers were sworn in for Karnali State. The new appointees, all from the Nepali Congress (NC), took their oaths of office and secrecy in a ceremony led by Province Chief Yagya Raj Joshi.

The NC had put forward these four candidates for inclusion in Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel’s administration.

The newly appointed ministers are Rajiv Bikram Shah, who will serve as Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning; Ghanashyam Bhandari, who will be the Minister for Social Development; Bijaya Budha, appointed as Minister for Energy and Water Resources; and Suresh Adhikari, who will take on the role of Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment. NC Chief Whip for the state, Hikmat Bahadur Bista, provided this information.

Bijaya Budha represents Humla, Rajiv Bikram Shah is from Jajarkot, Suresh Adhikari hails from Salyan, and Ghanashyam Bhandari comes from Dailekh, all within the Karnali State Assembly.

These ministerial positions became available after the resignation of four ministers from the CPN (Maoist Centre) on July 22, following shifts in the central power dynamics.
