JBBL signs agreements for various CSR programs

KATHMANDU: On the occasion of its 16th anniversary, Jyoti Bikash Bank Limited (JBBL) has announced and signed agreements for three distinguished corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs through its
“Hamro Bikash Prabardhan Kosh”.

The bank has provided this support with the aim of bringing long-term impact and positive change in the areas of health, education, and empowerment, contributing to overall societal development, and making communities prosperous and self-reliant.

The bank has entered into a partnership with e-Nable Nepal to provide artificial hands to physically challenged children.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Kapil Dhakal, Chief Executive Officer of JBBL, and Mr. Surendra Shrestha, President of e-Nable Nepal.

Through this collaboration, the bank will provide 16 children with 3D-printed artificial hands. These prosthetic hands are expected to aid the children in their daily activities while also boosting their morale and self-confidence. The bank had previously provided similar prosthetic hands to 15 children in collaboration with e-Nable Nepal.

Additionally, the bank has announced the continuation of the “Nyano Nani” Project- Phase 5 in collaboration with the National Innovation Center. Responding to the life-threatening risks posed to newborns due to hypothermia, the bank has agreed to support the installation of 10 critical life-saving medical devices, specifically baby warmer machines, at various health posts and birthing centers. The agreement was signed by Mr. Kapil Dhakal, Chief Executive Officer of JBBL, and Mr. Sanjay Jha, General Manager of the National Innovation Center. To date, the bank has installed 45 baby warmers across various hospitals, health posts, and birthing centers through different phases of collaboration with the National Innovation Center. The bank also provides specialized training to hospital doctors, nurses, and relevant staff on the operation of baby warmers and ensures their optimal use through coordination.

Furthermore, on the occasion of its anniversary, the bank has committed to providing desk benches in collaboration with Self Help Nepal. This initiative aims to partially fulfill the parental role for orphaned children, enhance the learning environment, and bring qualitative improvements to their overall educational experience.

The bank has allocated 50% more of its net profit to social responsibility initiatives compared to other banks and financial institutions operating in Nepal, demonstrating its dedication to the best
interests of the community. Believing that a healthy workforce is the backbone of nation-building, Jyoti Bikash Bank’s initiatives to prevent premature deaths of newborns have saved the lives of over 900 Nepali infants. The bank continues to lead in making a positive impact in society, standing as a beacon of change among financial institutions in Nepal.

Presently, JBBL operates 121 branches, 3 extension counters, and 75 ATMs, providing widespread access to banking services both within and outside the Kathmandu Valley.
