KATHMANDU: Ambika Shrestha, a senior tourism entrepreneur, passed away at the age of 92.

She was undergoing treatment at Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur, where she succumbed today.

Shrestha, the Chairperson of Dwarika’s Hotel and Resort, suffering from pneumonia and rheumatism, Shrestha was undergoing treatment for two months.

Active in the hotel and tourism industry for over 65 years, Shrestha took over the reins of Dwarika’s fully in 1991. She successfully fought cancer four years ago.

She is survived by her two daughters.

Binayak Shah, Chair of the Hotel Association Nepal, has highlighted Shrestha’s significant contributions to the country’s tourism and hotel industry, terming her demise a profound loss to the sector.
