ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) arrested seven drug traffickers in various operations across the country, the ANF said.

During the counter-narcotics operations, the force seized over 180 kg of drugs including hashish, opium, methamphetamine and heroin, while impounding several vehicles that were being used for smuggling, the ANF said in a statement on Saturday.

More than 89 kg of narcotics including hashish and opium were recovered from a vehicle in Khushab district of eastern Punjab province, the ANF said, adding that the drugs were concealed in the secret cavities of the vehicle, and a drug trafficker was arrested during the operation, said the statement.

Also, 4 kg of methamphetamine was recovered from the parcel sent to a foreign country from a cargo office in eastern Rawalpindi district.

Separately, over 42 kg of drugs were recovered from two suspects arrested in Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab province.

In another operation near federal capital Islamabad, the ANF recovered over 22.8 kg hashish and 2 kg opium, the ANF statement said, adding that three were arrested.

Separately, authorities said they recovered over 21.6 kg of narcotics in an operation in Quetta city of southwest Balochistan province, while arresting an accused during the operation.

Separate cases have been registered against the arrested persons while further investigations are under process, said the ANF statement.
