‘Mishra’s demise is severe dent to tourism sector’

KATHMANDU: Speakers at a programme have observed that demise of a tourism entrepreneur Bashanta Raj Mishra is a huge dent to Nepal’s tourism sector.
At a condolence gathering organized by the Nepal Chapter of Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) here today, tourism field lost a veteran figure.
Former tourism secretary of Nepal government, Deependra Purush Dhakal, reminded the late Mishra’s unparallel role in bringing in foreign tourists in Nepal and making the country known to the world.
“There is sheer void now with demise of Mishra,” he said, adding that it would be a great tribute to him once his vision and practice were followed by the present generation.
Senior Director at Nepal Tourism Board, Nandini Lahe Thapa, viewed Nepal’s tourism arena faced the absence of a guardian. The campaigns forwarded by the late Mishra need continuation to give tourism dynamism and effectiveness.
Tourism entrepreneur Yogendra Shakya termed Mishra a pioneer of Nepali tourism, while former chair of PATA Nepal chapter RR Pande said Mishra’s contribution to Nepal’s tourism and environment is unforgettable
Present Chair of Nepal Chapter Khemraj Lakai said Mishra’s role in promoting tourism in international market was unrivalled.
Mishra passed away at 74 while undergoing treatment.
