KATHMANDU: The issue regarding cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane has been listed in the ‘watch and wait’ list, as per the decision made during the hearing presented before the Chief Justice of the Patan High Court, Nripadhwaj Niroula, and Judge Durgaprasad Dhungel.

Despite the repeated hearings, hopes for a resolution today were dashed, with the hearing being postponed thrice due to various reasons.

There was optimism that today’s hearing, which has been postponed multiple times, would bring clarity. However, the proceedings were halted due to various circumstances. This delay is dampening the aspirations of Sandeep’s dream to play in the Cricket World Cup.

Previously, the court had ordered to settle the disputes and provide details of Gausala-26 birthdate. The Kathmandu District Court had pronounced a verdict of eight years of imprisonment, a fine of three hundred thousand rupees, and a compensation of two hundred thousand rupees against Sandeep, on charges of forced confinement. Sandeep had appealed against this decision in the High Court.

Moreover, the District Government Attorney’s Office has also submitted a re-application in the High Court against the decision of the District Court.

The Patan High Court proceeded with hearing both the appeals simultaneously.
