KATHMANDU: Former captain and cricketer of the Nepali national team, Sandeep Lamichhane, has been summoned to the Supreme Court in connection with a case filed against him.

Previously, the case had been dismissed three times without reaching a final verdict, but now, it has been listed as the first case on the court’s schedule.

The fact that the case has been listed first raises the possibility of a hearing taking place soon.

Sandeep had filed a petition for review at the Patan High Court after a verdict was issued by the district court against him.

However, due to various reasons, the hearing has been postponed three times. If the hearing takes place today and Sandeep is cleared of charges, it could pave the way for his participation in the Cricket World Cup, fulfilling his dream of representing Nepal in the tournament.

With the deadline for World Cup selection approaching on the 25th, cricket enthusiasts in Nepal are hopeful that Sandeep will be cleared in time to participate in the tournament.

Sandeep had previously left for the United States to join the Nepali team’s departure for the World Cup, but in recent days, he has been seen going to cricket fields to watch matches of the national team.
