Afghanistan announce T20 World Cup 2024 squad

KATHMANDU: Afghanistan has unveiled its 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in the United States and West Indies from June 1 to 29.

The team includes Rashid Khan (captain), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wicketkeeper), Ibrahim Zadran, Azmatullah Omarzai, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Shahzad, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Karim Janat, Nangyal Khil, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Noor Ahmad, Navin-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, and Farid Ahmad Malik. Additionally, Sedik Atal, Hazratullah Zazai, and Saleem Safi have been named as reserve players.

Afghanistan finds itself in Group C of the T20 World Cup, alongside New Zealand, West Indies, PNG, and Uganda.

Their first match is scheduled against Uganda on June 3.
