KATHMANDU: Voting is underway in Ilam constituency-2, starting from 7 AM this Saturday morning.

A total of 149 polling centers are operating peacefully, according to Chief Election Officer Keshav Prasad Ghimire.

The election is being conducted with the support of 745 employees, 1,523 Nepal Police personnel, 710 Armed Police Force officers, 450 Nepal Army personnel, and 24 personnel from the National Investigation Department, he added.

Voting will continue until 5 PM. Major political parties and their primary competitors have already cast their votes.

Milan Limbu, the candidate from the RSP, voted at the ‘B’ center of Janata Kalyan Mavi in Mangsebung-2.

Independent candidate Dakendra Singh Thegim cast his vote at the ‘A’ polling center in Singhadevi Mavi, Ward No. 3 of Phakphokthum Rural Municipality, his birthplace.

UML candidate Suhang Nemwang has voted from ‘C’ center of Mahendra Ratna Multipurpose Campus.

Likewise, Nepali Congress candidate Dambar Khadka also participated in the voting, casting his vote at the ‘A’ center of Mahendraratna Bahumukhi Campus.

This by-election, necessitated by the demise of Constituent Assembly Chair Subas Chandra Nembang, has drawn the participation of 115,889 eligible voters.
