KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Vice-Chair Dawa Lama, who was arrested in a drug case, has been released.

Lama, who was arrested on Wednesday, has been released on bail by the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Circle, according to the Office of the Narcotics Control Bureau.

He was arrested by the police for being on the run in a narcotics case.

However, after being acquitted by the Supreme Court, he has been released.

Previously, Lama, who was convicted in the narcotics case in 2064 BS from the Patan High Court, was on the run.

He was sentenced to five years in prison and fined Rs 5,000 for his involvement in the narcotics trade.

Even after the court’s decision, he had not served his sentence and had been holding public office.

Lama was arrested by the police near the Banasthali Chowk in Kathmandu with 5 grams of heroin on Shrawan 8, 2061 BS (23 July , 2004).
