KATHMANDU: A girl’s body was discovered burning in Janakpurdham.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ranjan Awa, Spokesperson of District Police Office Dhanusha, reported that the charred body of a young woman was discovered about 9 p.m. last night in Kapileshwar Sub-Metropolitan City-16.

According to him, another female was rescued alive alongside the girl’s dead body.

“After being informed by the locals, the burning body of a young woman and an eight-month-old girl were rescued alive by the side of the pond, about 500 meters south of the Kapileshwar Mahadev temple,” the official added.

According to him, the girl, who was retrieved alive, died while being treated at the provincial hospital in Janakpurdham.

DSP Awa said that the girl who died is Priyanka Mahto, 22, from Mahottari Manrasiswa.

The body of the girl has been kept at the State Hospital Janakpurdham for autopsy.

According to the police, the incident is being investigated.
