ANFA Deputy Chair Dawa Lama held in drug case

KATHMANDU: Deputy Chairperson of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), Dawa Lama, has been arrested. Lama was apprehended by a team from the Kathmandu Metropolitan Crime Division.

He had been convicted in 2064 BS (2007 AD) in a case related to the illegal drug trade and had been at large since then.

He was sentenced by the Patan High Court on Jestha 20, 2064 BS (June 3, 2007 AD) to five years in prison and a fine of Rs 5,000 in the case related to the illegal drug trade.

Even after the court’s verdict, he had not served his sentence and continued to hold public position.

Lama was arrested on Shrawan 8, 2061 BS (July 24, 2004 AD), near the Banasthali Chowk in Kathmandu, with 5 grams of heroin by the police.
