KATHMANDU: Gunmen opened fire at a mosque in the Shahrak area of Gozara district, located in west Afghanistan’s Herat province on Monday evening, leaving six people dead and another injured, according to Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior.

The incident occurred as worshippers were offering their evening prayers.

All the victims were civilians, Qani confirmed. No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack at this time.

Authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the incident to apprehend those responsible and ensure justice for the victims and their families.
