IPL: Rajasthan Royals edge past KKR

KATHMANDU: In a thrilling encounter in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rajasthan Royals clinched a nail-biting victory against Kolkata Knight Riders by 2 wickets.

Thanks to an outstanding century by Jos Buttler, Rajasthan successfully chased down the target of 224 runs in 20 overs, matching the highest successful run chase in IPL history.

Previously, RR had achieved a similar feat by chasing down a target of 224 runs against Punjab in 2020.

Winning the toss, Rajasthan chose to bowl first at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Kolkata managed to score 223 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with Sunil Narine scoring 109 runs off 56 balls. In response, Rajasthan reached the target, scoring 224 runs for the loss of 8 wickets within the stipulated 20 overs. Jos Buttler played a brilliant knock, remaining unbeaten with 107 runs off 60 balls.

Following this victory, Rajasthan Royals ascend to the top of the points table with their sixth win in 7 matches, accumulating 12 points.

Meanwhile, despite suffering their second defeat in 6 matches, Kolkata Knight Riders hold the second position with 8 points.
