KAATHMANDU: Chief Minister (CM) Saroj Kumar Yadav of Madhesh State is set to seek a vote of confidence for the fourth time today.

The State Secretariat has informed that a meeting of the State Assembly has been called for 1 p.m. for this purpose.

Following a change in the coalition in the federal government on March 4, Congress was ousted from the Madhesh government on March 18. Afterward, it participated in the CPN (UML) government. However, Congress withdrew its support from the government on March 22, leading the Chief Minister to initiate the confidence vote on Tuesday.

The provision to seek a vote of confidence within 30 days after losing support in the government is present. This is the fourth time Chief Minister Yadav has sought a vote of confidence in 15 months.

Among the 107 members in the Madhesh State Assembly, CPN-UML is the largest party with 25 members. It is followed by Nepali Congress with 22, Janata Samajwadi Party with 19, and Janamat Party with 13 members.

Additionally, there are 9 members from the Loktantrik Samajwadi, 9 from the CPN (Maoist Centre), 7 from the Unified Socialist, and 1 each from Nepal Federal Socialist, Nagarik Unmukti, and RPP.
