Nepali Congress holding CWEC meeting today

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) is convening a session of its Central Work Execution Committee (CWEC) today.

NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has summoned the meeting to deliberate on prevailing political developments and chart the party’s future course of action, as per informed sources within the party.

Party General Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel informed that officials of the Central Performance Committee were called to the meeting.

Insiders revealed that the session is scheduled to convene at Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha at 2 pm this afternoon.

The primary focus of the CWEC assembly is expected to center around finalizing NC candidates for the Ilam-2 and Bajhang-1 constituencies in the upcoming by-elections.

Although other parties have decided on their candidates for the by-elections, the Congress is still in discussion.

Congress’s regional election committees, district and state working committees have recommended the names of candidates to the center.

For Ilam-2, Congress has recommended the names of seven people namely district president Dambar Khadka, leaders Bhesharaj Acharya, Keshav Thapa, Nagendra Kumal, Ramesh Lingden, Chandamaya Limbu and Sasikala Rai.
