KATHMANDU: The Nagarik Unmuti Party (NUP) has been instructed by the provincial government of Sudurpashchim State to withdraw its support from the parliamentary coalition.

In a written letter addressed to the parliamentary party leader Ghanshyam Chaudhary, Party Chair Ranjita Shrestha directed the party to retract its backing for the government.

Chair Shrestha highlighted the party’s focus on adhering to constitutional provisions and emphasized the need to move forward accordingly.

Sudurpashchim State Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah assigned responsibilities to two ministers from the NUP to participate in the state government on Thursday.

Chief Minister Shah appointed Laxmankishore Chaudhary as the Minister for Social Development and Khushiram Dagaura Tharu as the Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest, and Environment.

Out of the seven State Assembly members deemed crucial for forming the government, five members from the NUP have been appointed as ministers, indicating their active participation in the government.”
