KATHMANDU: The Nepal-India electric power trade deal has been extended by three months, departing from its usual annual renewal cycle.

According to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Nepal can import up to 554 megawatts of electricity from India under the revised terms.

Originally signed in 2078 BS, the agreement facilitates electricity exchange between the two nations.

This extension ensures a consistent flow of electricity imports, crucial during Nepal’s dry season when domestic hydroelectric output decreases.
