KATHMANDU: A man in Rautahat has allegedly murdered his wife by striking her with a sickle. The incident occurred in Ward No. 1 of Brindaban Municipality, Tamang Tole, where a 40-year-old man named Tirtha Waiba allegedly fatally attacked his 35-year-old wife, Soti Maya Waiba, with a sickle.

According to information provided by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Om Prakash Khanal of Garuda to the local police office, the incident took place on Wednesday while the couple was engaged in cutting grass on their own property.

Following a dispute between the husband and wife, Tirtha allegedly struck Soti Maya on her head with the sickle, resulting in her death.

He said that after the murder of his wife, Tirtha reached the yard and slit his neck with a sickle, saying that he would also die.

Investigation revealed that Tirtha had consumed alcohol.

Further investigation into the incident, including the consumption of alcohol by the accused, is underway, as informed by the Rautahat police.
