KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives meeting scheduled for Thursday was adjourned to Friday due to the failure to meet the quorum.

The deliberation on the Political Party (Second Amendment) Bill, 2080 remained pending as the quorum requirement was not fulfilled during the Assembly session.

During the session, Minister of Information and Communication Technology Rekha Sharma was representing Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha to present the bill.

However, UML whip Mahesh Bartaula raised concerns about the lack of quorum in Parliament.

In response, Speaker Devraj Ghimire cited Article 94 of the Constitution of Nepal, which mandates the presence of 1/4 of the House members for submitting any question or proposal.

He instructed the staff to confirm the attendance by ringing the bell for 3 minutes.

With only 65 MPs present instead of the required 69, Speaker Ghimire announced the adjournment of the meeting until 11:00 on Friday morning.
