Suspicious object found in Biratnagar disposed of, two arrested

KATHMANDU: The Nepal army has safely disposed of the suspicious object discovered in Biratnagar, located in Koshi State.

The object, which consisted of a pressure cooker wrapped in tape, was found near the Household and Small Industries Office in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-3.

Upon arrival at the scene, a team comprising members of the Nepali Army and Armed Police Force successfully neutralized the suspicious object under the leadership of Ravas Khatiwada, a soldier of Bhairav Gana.

Inside the pressure cooker, authorities found detonators, safety fuses, bars of soap, and stones. Two individuals responsible for planting the item, identified as 38-year-old Praveen Mishra of Ilam, Mamsebung-1 Gajurmukhi, residing in Bhimsengola, Kathmandu, and 38-year-old Bipin Adhikari from Panchthar Yangwarak Rural Municipality-1, were apprehended.

According to Superintendent of Police Deepak Pokharel of Morang, the suspects, known as Parnema Ilam Mamsebung 1 Gajurmukhi, had been intimidating schools and demanding donations under threat of detonating bombs.

During the arrest of Mishra, authorities recovered seven detonators, an 18 feet 3-inch long dead cord, 1 kg of soda, and two bags of assistance receipts.
