Bus accident in Dang: several injured while returning from picnic

KATHMANDU: A bus carrying passengers returning from a picnic in Dang met with an accident early this morning.

According to Dang police chief SP Ram Bahadur KC, the bus with registration No. BHE 1 Kha 2041, which was en route from Bardiya to Tharu Museum in Dangisharan-3 for a picnic, was involved in the accident near Jhanjyang along the Rapti Highway around 7 o’clock in the morning.

Inspector Navchandra Malla, the spokesperson for the area police office in Tulsipur, who reached the accident site, provided information that 25 injured individuals were rescued from the scene.

They were promptly transported to Rapti Regional Hospital in Tulsipur, while 4 to 5 individuals in critical condition were sent to Kohalpur for further medical attention.

Among the injured, three individuals are reported to be in serious condition. The bus, carrying approximately 40 people, was reportedly returning from a joyful outing when the unfortunate incident occurred.

The rescue operation was carried out swiftly by local authorities and emergency response teams.

The injured passengers are currently receiving medical treatment, and their conditions are being closely monitored.
