One dies in clash between EPS protesters & police

KATHMANDU: A youth was killed in a clash between EPS students and the police at Gwarko in Lalitpur.

One of the injured youth died in Patan Hospital while being dispersed by police firing tear gas and batons.

Sujan Raut, 23, died at KIST Hospital in Imadol, according to Amish Pathak, the hospital’s Chief Operating Officer.

Raut was transported to the hospital after being discovered laying on the road in the Balkumari neighborhood.

Raut’s chest was bruised, according to Pathak, Chief Operating Officer. Raut died at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

He was given CPR for 45 minutes after arriving at the hospital.

The situation became tense when a vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure was set in a blaze in Gwarko.

Kuber Kadayat, Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police, stated that several teenagers set fire to the car since they were unable to fill out the Employment Permit System (EPS) application form today.

He went on to say, “A group of agitating youths set fire to the vehicle, we have arrested five people, the minister was rescued by the police and taken to Singha Durbar.”
