KATHMANDU: The sixth National Flag Day has been observed.

National Heritage Conservation Foundation Nepal also took out a rally from Basantapur in Kathmandu on Sunday on the occasion of Flag Day.

According to Rajanand Mandavya, the founder president of the National Heritage Conservation Institute of Nepal, this day was began to be observed as the day the Nepal flag was accepted in the United Nations on Poush 1 2019 and acquired worldwide recognition.

He stated that he began this campaign to highlight the flag’s identity.

He said, “December 16, 1962 will be remembered as the day when Nepal’s flag was adopted in the United Nations on Poush 1, 2019 and received international recognition.” We have started this campaign to highlight the identity of the flag. We have started this campaign to explain the importance of the flag to Nepali people. This day was started to make the young generation aware of the flag.

The institution has been celebrating National Flag Day, National Dress Day and National Topi Day every year.
