KATHMANDU: A passenger’s handbag caught fire inside the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) due to a power bank explosion.

Pratap Babu Tiwari, Director General of TIA, stated that the power bank in the hand-carry caught fire while sitting in the waiting area with a boarding pass before boarding the plane.

He stated that the power bank in the passenger’s hand-carry caught fire when it exploded, but no substantial damage occurred.

The power bank in the handbag of a passenger who was set to fly to China by an Air China plane exploded.

The fire was immediately doused.
