KATHMANDU: A photo exhibition has been held to commemorate the completion of the construction of over 10,000 suspension bridges in Nepal.

A two-day photo exhibition was held at Jawalakhel in Lalitpur, organized by the Local Infrastructure Department and the Ministry of Urban Development.

744 constructions were completed in fiscal years 2079 and 2080, exceeding the aim of 730 constructions.

This is the highest annual volume of suspension bridge construction in Nepali history.

The number of suspension bridges built on Nepal’s rivers this fiscal year has surpassed 10,000.

The Ministry of Urban Development has informed that at least 1.2 million ordinary Nepalese people living in far-flung areas have been eased by the suspension bridge that was completed last year.

Since the year 1964, the construction of suspension bridges started from Helvetas Nepal and the Government of Nepal with the grant of Swiss Government Development SDC, technical assistance, ten thousand four hundred and twelve bridges have been built.
