KATHMANDU: Koshi Chief Minister Kedar Karki is taking the oath of office and secrecy today.

The newly appointed Karki will be sworn in by the state chief, Parshuram Khapung.

According to Ram Kumar Shrestha, the office’s spokesman, a special ceremony was held at the Chief Minister’s office today at 2 p.m. for the Chief Minister’s swearing.

The Chief Minister is also preparing to form a small cabinet in Koshi today.

Karki was named Chief Minister of Koshi on Saturday, with the support of UML MPs and Congress MP Shekhar Koirala.

Karki was supported by 39 UML MPs and 8 Congress MPs who signed a petition to make him Chief Minister in accordance with Clause 5 of Article 168 of the Constitution. The state chief Khapung named Karki as chief minister after signing the signature.
